They are looking at charges for abusing their jobs after getting caught with almost a thousand U.S. dollars in bribe cash. Here is how it all went down. Zim treasury froze loan cuts to shield civil servants from loan sharks
The finance ministry is finally admitting that they froze a bunch of paycheck deductions on purpose. For the last four months, they have been holding back money meant for banks and microfinance companies that civil servants use for loans. Minister Mthuli Ncube says it was not a glitch or a cash flow problem. It was a deliberate move while they investigated the lenders. The government claims these companies were breaking multiple laws, charging insane interest and taking way too much from people's salaries. The situation was apparently brutal. Ncube's statement says some government workers were having over a hundred percent of their take-home pay grabbed to service these debts, leaving them with literally nothing. That violates rules...
Floods drown three, trap four on swollen rivers in Matabeleland
The flood death toll is rising in the South. Police in Matabeleland South confirm three people have drowned in separate river incidents, with four more still stranded. Inspector Chiratidzo Dube gave the grim breakdown. In Bulilima, that group of four people who went to harvest mopane worms last week remains stuck on an island in the Thekwane River. They crossed one part of the river fine in their donkey cart in the morning, but on the return trip that evening, found the next section flooded. When they turned back, the first part was also too high, trapping them where they are now. A man named Sibusiso Ndlovu left a business center in Mawabeni to go home. He never arrived. His body turned up later on the bank of the Umzingwane River...
Magwena ordered to pay beasts after small house drama blows up
The village drama is always next level. A guy in Rusape named Beyond Magwena got publicly humiliated when a whole crew showed up at his house with his girlfriend, causing a huge scene in front of his actual wife. The girlfriend's brother, Phibion Mutombwa, took him to the local chief's court. He accused Magwena of basically living with his sister, Prisca, like she was a second wife, without the family's approval or paying anything for her. The brother wanted payment: three cows, three goats, and a thousand U.S. dollars. He said Magwena convinced Prisca to quit her job with promises of support, then left her high and dry, unable to help their sick mother. Magwena's story was a mess of contradictions. He admitted Prisca was his...
Prophet Walter Magaya’s bodyguard cleared in witness tampering case
So the bodyguard for that celebrity preacher, Walter Magaya, just walked free. Tapiwa Fellix Chikondo was on trial for trying to mess with a police investigation, specifically a rape case involving his boss. The charge was obstructing justice. A magistrate in Harare named Tapiwa Kuhudzai found him not guilty after a full trial. The state's case was that back in November, Chikondo reached out to the mother of the woman who accused Magaya. He supposedly told her not to help the cops and even set up a call between her and the preacher himself. The big piece of evidence was a two-hundred-dollar EcoCash transfer he allegedly sent to the mom, meant to cover her travel costs to Harare to supposedly settle everything. Cops even pulled the...

The tourism authority is apparently cleaning house, and the staff is not happy about how it is going down. Word is the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, under its acting CEO William Stima, has fired a bunch of senior people. This includes three directors and about a dozen other department heads and managers over the last two weeks. The whole situation has everyone else worried about how the place is being run, especially since pay has been late this year and there have been no raises or bonuses. That message talked about even more planned firings of...
