Adventure Foundation Pakistan completed its 21st National Children Mountain Conservation Meet after participants spent ten days learning about environmental protection in Siran Valley. More than one hundred young people and educators from different regions gathered for the educational program focused on mountain ecosystems. The organization held its final ceremony at Margalla Hotel where children presented findings about climate change effects on mountainous areas. Italian Ambassador Marilina Armellin attended as the main speaker and praised youth involvement in environmental causes. She discussed the long partnership between Italy and Pakistan regarding mountain exploration dating back to 1909.
Aftab Rana explained that the annual program selects approximately one hundred students for residential camps in mountain regions where they learn conservation techniques. These participants return to their communities as environmental ambassadors known as Eco Guards who implement small conservation projects. The foundation has engaged more than 2,500 children since beginning these meets in 2002 during the International Year of Mountains. Ambassador Armellin emphasized connecting young people with nature amid increasing digital technology use. The event concluded with youth presenting their climate resilience recommendations to government representatives.
