23DSP 23Tape 23HotCold Plugins Will Blow Your Mind

Marco Allegretti launched three audio plugins under his 23DSP brand. Musicians can download two plugins for free and buy one advanced version. The tools help shape sound during mixing and mastering work. Audio engineers use these plugins to add warmth and control harmonics. Each plugin targets different parts of the production process.

23Tape recreates the sound of magnetic tape machines from recording studios. Users adjust tape speed between 7.5, 15, and 30 inches per second. The plugin adds bias controls, drive settings, and signal wear effects. Musicians can create subtle tape warmth or heavy lo-fi sounds. Features span from head bumps to stereo adjustments with noise layers.

23HotCold separates harmonic distortion into two simple controls. Hot adds even harmonics that sound warm and musical. Cold creates odd harmonics for sharper distortion effects. The plugin works on vocals, synthesizers, and drum tracks. Drive and output knobs let users balance the saturation amount.

MS-23HotCold expands the basic version with mid-side processing capabilities. Engineers can shape harmonics separately for center and stereo parts of their mix. Each channel gets separate hot, cold, drive, and output controls. The advanced version costs three euros and targets mastering work. Professional mixers use it for detailed stereo enhancement tasks.
