32 candidates to contest St Vincent election on Nov 27

St. Vincent and the Grenadines will see 32 candidates compete in parliamentary elections, with the Unity Labour Party seeking a sixth consecutive term under Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves against the New Democratic Party led by Opposition Leader Godwin Friday. Independent contender Kenna Questelles, formerly affiliated with the NDP Women's Arm, plans to establish a digital training initiative targeting youth employment in technology sectors if successful in West St. George.

The governing party challenged two opposition candidates on constitutional grounds, arguing that adult acquisition of Canadian citizenship creates foreign allegiance conflicts. Returning officers approved both nominations despite objections, prompting Gonsalves to announce plans for judicial review. Nine women are seeking seats in this contest, which includes representation from smaller organizations including the National Liberation Movement, alongside the dominant political forces.
