A landslide in Elgeyo-Marakwet County has resulted in 37 confirmed fatalities, with 11 individuals still missing, according to the Interior Cabinet Secretary. Thirty-two people were injured and received hospital treatment. Multi-agency search and rescue teams continue their operations.
Displaced residents are currently housed at Chesongoch Primary School, where they are receiving government and partner-provided relief aid. Officials stated that plans for victim compensation and relocation to safer regions are being developed.
