4chan Reportedly Hacked Mod Info Allegedly Leaked

According to online posts, someone hacked the internet messageboard 4chan. Some reports claim the hacker exposed personal information about site moderators to everyone. Users first noticed the breach when an old, unused section of the website suddenly became active, with "U GOT HACKED" displayed at the top.

Hudson Rock cybercrime expert Alon Gal believes the hack seems real based on screenshots showing 4chan's internal systems. An unnamed 4chan moderator told TechCrunch they had no reason to doubt these screenshots were authentic. The website worked only sometimes on Tuesday. Reuters could not verify all details or identify who carried out the attack.

Messages sent to 4chan went unanswered. One person from the roughly two dozen moderators allegedly exposed sent-back links to explicit videos instead of helpful information. The site has long served as a birthplace for viral internet content despite its simple design, rebellious nature, and minimal moderation.

Various internet groups formed there over time, including Anonymous hackers, extreme misogynists called "incels," far-right communities. The site became known for sharing disturbing videos. Recently, it gained attention for hosting fake AI-generated pornography made without consent from the people shown.
