Alice Muyambo survived a violent robbery attempt last week when three men forced her from a moving vehicle near Mutare. The 22-year-old Teachers' College student discovered her Samsung A02S cellphone missing while traveling in a white Nissan Tiida driven by Leslie Munyau. After confronting the driver about the theft, accomplices Kudakwashe Muneri and Denzy pushed her toward the passenger door. Munyau accelerated the vehicle before shoving Muyambo onto the roadway near the Golden Peacock Hotel. Her leg became briefly trapped beneath the car during the violent ejection.
Two ZRP Chikanga officers witnessed the attack and immediately intervened to arrest Munyau. The suspects returned the stolen device valued at 75 dollars before Muneri and Denzy escaped on foot. Medical staff at Victoria Chitepo Hospital treated Muyambo for minor injuries sustained during the assault. Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka praised the officers for preventing a potentially fatal outcome. Police continue searching for the two remaining suspects who fled the scene.
