Abu Banda Family Rejects State House Funeral

The Abu Banda Family has publicly rejected a funeral ceremony for the late Alhaji Asoma Abu Banda being organized without their permission. Alhaji Mohammed Abu Banda, who leads the family and serves as the Chief of Banda in the Ashanti Region, spoke out strongly against the unauthorized event planned at the State House.

During a press conference in Accra, he made it crystal clear that Alhaji Abdullah Khalifa (also known as Alhaji Abomour) has absolutely no authority to arrange the funeral. The family head emphasized that Khalifa does not hold any position within the Abu Banda family and cannot speak on their behalf.

Instead, the family has invited the public to attend Alhaji Asoma Abu Banda's official 40-day funeral service. The event will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the mosque in the Airport Residential Area. The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, will lead the prayers, and the Quran will be read during the service.

Alhaji Mohammed Abu Banda shared that his late brother's final wish was to be buried at the mosque he personally built. The burial site has been prepared with a special plan for a second mausoleum spot. This space is reserved for his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Cassandra Asoma Banda, who will eventually be laid to rest beside her husband.

The family expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and the National Chief Imam for their support during the initial burial of Alhaji Asoma Abu Banda, who passed away on March 1, 2025. They remain committed to honoring his memory and religious beliefs through their actions.
