A court sent Chima Uchechukwu to jail after police found drugs at Oyarifa. The Narcotics Control Commission arrested him on March 18, 2025. They discovered 192 slabs of cocaine with high purity rates. They also found 57 cocaine pellets. Officers took heroin and morphine from his property as well.
He faces charges for having drugs without permission. His lawyer, Paul Asibi Abariga, claims some facts about the case are wrong. The lawyer says the money found during the arrest belongs to Uchechukwu's wife. He plans to ask for bail at the next court date.
NACOC started looking into drug trafficking back in 2023. They linked Uchechukwu to drugs from two people arrested earlier. Officers watched him before making their move. They searched another property connected to him, where they found the drugs. Tests confirmed what the substances were.
Prosecutors say he worked with others to sell drugs. They believe he bought fancy cars and properties with drug money. Police continue looking for his partners. Justice Ruby Aryeetey will hear the case again on May 2, 2025.
