Accra city officials will clear the streets of roadside sellers starting Tuesday, May 20. The cleanup aims to remove obstacles that block people from walking or driving. Teams will first target areas around the AMA office, Kinbu Road, ECG Junction, Zongo Lane, and Opera Square. The second day focuses on Wato Junction, UTC Road, and parts of Kwame Nkrumah Circle. Day three covers the rest of the Circle and Kaneshie areas.
City authorities and police will work together on this three-day operation. All street vendors must move from these locations by Monday evening, May 19. Officials say local markets have space for all traders to relocate. This action follows city rules against blocking public areas. The AMA also plans to start a new 24-hour system with special teams for cleaning and security throughout the night.
