Accused in Saif Ali Khan attack case files bail plea, denies charges

Mohammed Shariful Islam submitted a bail petition through his legal representative, Vipul Dushing. The 30-year-old defendant contests the charges filed against him. Islam maintains his innocence and describes the case as fabricated without substantial proof. Arthur Road jail currently houses the accused man. The court will reconvene on July 21 to address his application.

The defense argues that authorities violated procedural laws during the arrest process. Islam's legal team cites Section 47 of the Indian Civil Defence Code as grounds for dismissal. Prosecutors possess video surveillance and telecommunication records as evidence. The investigation phase approaches completion with only formal charges remaining. Defense counsel asserts no risk exists for evidence destruction or witness interference.

Bollywood performer Saif Ali Khan suffered multiple stab wounds during a January home invasion. The assault occurred at 2:15 AM when an intruder entered the Bandra residence. Khan sustained six injuries while protecting household staff from the attacker. Two wounds near his spinal column required immediate medical attention. The incident began in his son Jeh's bedroom, where Khan confronted the burglar.
