Accra Court Charges Micro Credit Managers with Confiscating Customer's Dresses.
Accra - Two managers from Bridge Micro Credit face charges for taking 955 women's dresses from a customer's shop. The customer had defaulted on a loan payment.
Gideon Yeboah, 39, and Godfred Bright Eku, 50, pleaded not guilty before an Accra circuit court. The charges are conspiracy to commit a crime, unlawful entry, and stealing dresses worth GHC513,000.
Judge Christina Cann granted bail of GHC513,000 with three sureties each. Two sureties must be justified. The case will continue on February 24, 2025.
Prosecutor Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu said the complainant is Benjamin Okpoti, a clergyman from Gbawe, Accra. In April 2024, Okpoti's wife, Sally Naadei Neequaye, took a GHC50,000 loan from Bridge Micro Credit. She agreed to repay GHC11,249 monthly for six months.
Neequaye paid the first month but missed the following months. On December 19, 2024, Yeboah, Eku, and six others went to Neequaye's Tudu shop. They took 950 women's dresses in two bags.
Police arrested the two managers after a report. During the investigation, they admitted the offense. Police recovered 166 dresses. The accused could not account for the other 784 dresses, valued at GHC513,000.
