Activist Jestiere Malcom Masarira faced incitement charges before Harare magistrate Sharon Rakafa on Saturday after authorities accused her of promoting an unauthorized demonstration against President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Police arrested the 35-year-old for allegedly distributing flyers advertising the One Million Men March organized by war veteran Blessed Runesu Geza for October 17 at Robert Mugabe Square.
Officers seized 7,200 flyers from a silver Toyota Aqua on Patrenda Road in Glenview after receiving information about the distribution. Masarira fled the scene while police detained accomplice Malvern Mavhere, who remains in custody. Prosecutors claim she worked with activist Godfrey Karembera to spread materials in Machipisa, Glenview, and Budiriro suburbs containing messages about the planned protest.
