Ambuja Cements just got its board to approve a huge merger, folding two other companies into a single operation. This consolidates ACC Limited and Orient Cement Limited under the Adani Group's main cement banner. The deal will trade shares, giving ACC shareholders 328 Ambuja shares for every 100 they own, while Orient Cement shareholders get 33 Ambuja shares for every 100.
Company director Karan Adani called this a transformational move for building a globally competitive materials business. He said putting Ambuja, ACC, and Orient Cement under one roof will boost operational strength, drive growth, and create long-term value through a more resilient balance sheet. The merger aims to cut duplicate administrative work, slash costs, and make decisions faster by eliminating the need for separate management agreements with the absorbed subsidiaries.
Internally, this setup is supposed to unlock major efficiencies in manufacturing and logistics, helping fund capacity expansion. The strategy supports a plan to ramp up total production capacity significantly within the next few years. For the market, the Adani Ambuja Cements and Adani ACC product brands will keep operating as usual in their respective areas, but the parent entity will become a more streamlined and agile industry player.
