A company just built a box that lets you move real knobs with your feet. ADDAC System's new Expression Control unit connects eight expression pedals to their matching Servo Controller motors, which physically turn knobs on any gear like guitar amps or modular synths. Each pedal input on the Expression Control drives one servo motor, with the whole system translating either MIDI data or direct pedal movement into precise 270-degree rotations.
The servo device attaches to a gear's existing control knob with a special coupler, letting a musician remotely manipulate it. Company founder Andre Goncalves explained they wanted a tool to control any physical potentiometer on any device. Every channel includes minimum and maximum range trimmers for fine adjustment, and it can send MIDI control messages over USB-C, Bluetooth, or a standard mini-jack. Both units are available now for separate purchase.
