A former finance minister claims political sharks orchestrated her ousting over a certificate scandal. Kemi Adeosun stated on a television program that powerful enemies inside the government used the controversy around her NYSC documentation to force her out during the last administration. She explained that once the allegations emerged, she personally told the then-president she would sue to clear her name, making her position as minister untenable.
Adeosun said remaining in the cabinet while taking legal action against it would have been wrong, leaving resignation as her only ethical choice. She recalled the president supported her decision to prioritize her reputation, adding she was the only finance minister under that government to leave voluntarily.
