ADMARC halts operations in Malawi after funding freeze leaves staff unpaid

The Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation suspended nationwide operations Wednesday after three months without government funding. Financial constraints prevented the parastatal from performing essential duties. Workers received no salaries during this period, creating workforce demoralization. Management directed all staff members to remain home until further instructions arrive. The corporation released an official statement confirming the immediate shutdown.

ADMARC currently holds zero maize inventory and purchased no agricultural commodities recently. The organization cannot sell or distribute any farm products at present. Food security may deteriorate for communities relying on ADMARC depots for affordable staples. The corporation expressed optimism that government officials will address the funding crisis quickly. Citizens received requests to stay patient while awaiting official updates from authorities.
