Tanzanian designer Agusta Masaki landed in Nigeria to rep her country at the Africana Royal Elegance Collection fashion show happening through the weekend. She told reporters this is huge for her career and she gets to flex Tanzania on the global stage while celebrating women everywhere from Dar es Salaam to Lagos.
Her collection features traditional pieces made from Tanzanian khanga that NIDA Textile Mill produced, plus vitenge fabrics that push local culture through fresh modern cuts. Masaki gave props to President Samia Suluhu Hassan and government officials for backing creatives and making space for artists to thrive. She wants young people grinding with their talents in fashion, music and acting to keep building themselves up and putting Tanzania on the map through their work.
