AI in gaming grows despite consumer indifference

Consumer attitudes toward artificial intelligence usage in gaming remain largely indifferent despite intense debate among enthusiasts, according to Jacob Navok, the chief executive of Genvid and a former business director at Square Enix Holdings. The executive pointed to the Roblox game Steal a Brainrot, which attracted approximately 30 million simultaneous players at its peak despite featuring characters generated through artificial intelligence, as evidence that younger audiences prioritize entertainment value over production methods.

Studios have already begun incorporating these technologies during concept development phases, with many independent developers using tools like Claude for programming tasks. Navok suggested implementation quality matters less for commercial success than scale, noting the Roblox title has generated between 80 million and 90 million dollars while maintaining 20 million concurrent players for multiple weeks. Examples range from Embark Studios compensating voice actors for artificial intelligence voice generation in ARC Raiders to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 replacing hand-drawn calling cards with machine-generated imagery.
