AIFF narrows down shortlist to three for Senior Men's football team head coach role

The All India Football Federation Technical Committee conducted a virtual meeting Wednesday to select candidates for the senior men's national team coaching position. Committee members examined 170 applications before selecting three finalists for consideration. Khalid Jamil, Stephen Constantine, and Štefan Tarkovič emerged as the preferred choices from this extensive review process. The Technical Committee forwarded these recommendations to the Executive Committee for final approval.

Manolo Marquez recently departed from the head coaching role following disappointing tournament results. The Spanish coach managed only one victory during eight matches, achieving a mere 13 percent success rate with the national squad. India's struggles during AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers prompted concerns about team performance under his leadership. The team drew against Bangladesh before suffering a late defeat to Hong Kong, which intensified pressure on the coaching staff. Marquez previously achieved success with Indian Super League clubs Hyderabad FC and FC Goa before accepting the national team appointment.
