AJ’s charity softens Akuse prison with holiday haul

Some wholesome content dropped as a charity blessed inmates with supplies and cash. Anita Opoku-Appiah and her group, AJ’s Help The Needy Project, pulled up to Akuse Female Prison with essential goods to help vulnerable women survive the holidays. This non-profit handed over bags of rice along with cooking oil and canned fish while adding toiletries and bottled water to the pile. They tossed in some money and beverages to make sure the ladies locked up get a little relief.

The founder insisted that prisoners are still humans who need dignity and care to help with their mental health while inside. Her organization has been running since 2018, doing various community drives like the AJ Inspires youth program to spread kindness across Ghana.

Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Benedicta Deborah Intsiful accepted the staff for the facility and thanked the group for making the environment safer for officers and residents. She mentioned that private donations really help out since the government cannot do everything alone regarding rehabilitation and upkeep.
