Akpabio hints Rivers and Bayelsa may join APC ahead of 2027 elections

Senate leader Godswill Akpabio thinks two more southern states might switch to his political party soon. He made these comments during a celebration party for Governor Umo Eno joining the All Progressives Congress. Akpabio believes his party could win every state across the South-South area before the next big election. The top lawmaker feels confident about growing support for his group. He thinks political changes will bring more victories.

Akpabio thanked Delta State Governor Sheriff for joining their political team earlier. He predicted Rivers State would follow Governor Eno's example and change sides. The Senate leader expects Bayelsa State to make the same move after Rivers decides. He also praised their recent win when Monday Okpebholo became governor of Edo State. These victories show the party's growing strength across the region.

Governor Eno had talked about leaving his old party back during April. He blamed fighting between leaders for making him want to quit the People's Democratic Party. The governor made his switch official on June 6 at a big event held in Uyo. Many important party members came to welcome him to their side. Leaders from the Progressive Governors Forum attended the ceremony to show their support.
