Al-Shorta beats Naft Basra 3-1 to clinch fourth Iraq Stars League title

Al-Shorta beat Naft Basra 3-1 during Saturday night's match at Al-Fayhaa Stadium. The game was part of round 36 for the Iraq Stars League competition. Al-Shorta controlled the action from kickoff and created many scoring chances. Their players attacked from both sides and through the middle against Basra's defense. Ahmed Yahya scored the opening goal after 36 minutes when he blasted a shot into the right corner.

Naft Basra came back strong after halftime and tied the game quickly. Hassan Dakhil found the net just two minutes into the second half with a shot from outside the penalty area. Al-Shorta midfielder made a passing mistake that gave Basra their chance to score. The equalizer came after several quick passes between Basra players. Dakhil placed his shot perfectly to the left of goalkeeper Ahmed Basel.

Al-Shorta responded fast and took the lead again through top scorer Mohannad Ali. The striker scored his goal after 58 minutes during a well-organized team attack. Mahmoud Al-Mawas started the play from the right wing and sent a cross into the box. Mimi was waiting in the perfect spot and placed the ball elegantly into the net. The goal showed great teamwork and finishing skills from both players.

Al-Shorta sealed their victory with a third goal during the 80th minute. The play started with goalkeeper Ahmed Basel making a long pass to Ayoub Bin Masharq. Bin Masharq sent the ball forward to Al-Mawas who ran behind the defense. Al-Mawas broke through and scored confidently past the Basra goalkeeper. The goal demonstrated excellent passing and movement from all three players involved.

This victory gives Al-Shorta their fourth straight Iraq Stars League championship. They reached 83 total points and lead second place Al-Zawraa by nine points. The team secured the title with two rounds still remaining in the season. Al-Shorta showed excellent tactical discipline and created attacks from many different areas of the field. Naft Basra made defensive mistakes that cost them the match and left them fighting against relegation.
