Alien Skin House Grenade Panic Sends Makindye Reeling

Bomb experts rushed to musician Alien Skin's house Tuesday after construction crews dug up a dangerous grenade. The workers discovered the old weapon during foundation work at the singer's Nakinyogozi home. Police arrived quickly and told everyone to step away from the deadly device. Officers blocked off the entire area before calling special bomb disposal teams. The squad safely destroyed the Russian-made grenade without anyone getting hurt.

Alien Skin contacted authorities Monday afternoon around 3:30 when his builders struck the buried weapon. Police spokesman Patrick Onyango confirmed the singer cooperated fully with security teams. The grenade appeared to be decades old and likely came from past wars. Many similar weapons remain hidden across Uganda from conflicts during the 1980s and 1990s. Northern Uganda insurgencies also left behind countless dangerous items that surface during digging projects.

Military forces have worked for years clearing leftover weapons from old battlefields. International groups helped remove thousands of these hidden dangers from communities. Construction workers and farmers still find buried grenades and bombs regularly. Police continue investigating where this particular weapon came from originally. Authorities remind citizens never to touch suspicious metal objects they discover.

The controlled destruction went smoothly without causing damage to nearby buildings. Residents watched from safe distances as experts handled the dangerous situation. Police documented everything for their ongoing investigation into the weapon's history. Security officials praise quick thinking by the construction crew who reported their discovery immediately. The incident shows how past conflicts continue affecting modern Uganda.
