Alonso trashes Aston Martin setup after Singapore flop

Fernando Alonso criticized Aston Martin's performance after qualifying 10th for the Singapore Grand Prix on Saturday at Marina Bay Street Circuit. The Spanish driver said last-minute setup changes made the car slower, and he expressed doubt about scoring points from the wrong side of the grid. Alonso suggested starting 11th would have been strategically better than 10th position.

The 43-year-old veteran acknowledged Aston Martin ranks as the eighth-fastest team, and he admitted rivals AlphaTauri and Haas are performing at higher levels. Alonso said the team does not deserve points if they manage to score them. The two-time world champion revealed concerns from FP3, when both Aston Martin drivers qualified 14th and 16th in Q1 before advancing to the top 10 in later sessions.
