Amazon to invest $54 billion in U.K., add thousands of jobs nationwide

Amazon plans to spend $54 billion across the United Kingdom during the next three years. The company will hire thousands of workers as part of this major business expansion. Amazon currently employs 75,000 people throughout Britain and wants to grow that number significantly. The tech giant will construct four new warehouses and multiple delivery centers nationwide. Company leaders say the investment demonstrates their commitment to British communities.

The new positions will spread across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland rather than concentrate around London. Amazon will add 60 specialized roles such as robotics technicians and safety experts at various locations. Two thousand workers will join the Hull facility and another two thousand will work at the Northampton site. Additional jobs will emerge at East Midlands locations and delivery stations across Britain. These roles offer career opportunities for people living outside major metropolitan areas.

This investment builds upon Amazon's previous $10 billion commitment announced last September for artificial intelligence computing infrastructure. British officials welcomed the announcement as proof of the country's strong business environment. Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the investment a major victory that brings real job opportunities to every region. Chancellor Rachel Reeves described it as a powerful endorsement of Britain's economic strengths. Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said the commitment shows international companies view Britain as an attractive place for major investments.
