Ambulance Boss Caught Siphoning 20000 Litres of Diesel

Officials started investigating fuel theft at Bulawayo fire stations. Someone took 20,000 liters of diesel over three years. A manager with broken gauges on his work truck filled up twice at different stations. He emptied his tank between stops to hide his actions. He repeated this trick three times weekly.

The stolen fuel ended up with street sellers operating under trees in the Nketa Six area. The manager turned his emergency vehicle into a personal car. His truck rarely drove more than 40 kilometers daily but received 200 liters each week. Regular ambulances that run all day receive less fuel despite traveling much farther distances.

The city audit team is working on the case with help from anti-corruption officials. Mayor David Coltart promised citizens he would share the investigation results publicly. Most city ambulances sit broken because of money problems. Only seven out of thirty can respond to emergencies these days.
