AMD Hypes 8GB RX 9060 XT Despite VRAM Hate

AMD defends their RX 9060 XT graphics card that comes with only 8GB of memory. Frank Azor from AMD says gamers still want the cheaper version despite criticism. The 8GB model costs fifty dollars less than the 16GB version. Many players complained that 8GB memory cannot handle modern games properly. AMD believes the lower memory card targets people who play games at 1080p resolution.

Most gamers play at 1080p resolution according to AMD research data. The company designed the 8GB version specifically for those players who prefer lower settings. Both memory versions use identical graphics chips except for storage capacity differences. AMD copied a strategy that NVIDIA uses with multiple memory options under one product name. Critics say this naming approach confuses customers who cannot tell the difference between versions.

AMD prices their graphics cards below competing NVIDIA products for similar performance levels. The RX 9060 XT 16GB version matches the price of the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB card. AMD markets both versions as capable of running 1440p games smoothly. Many reviewers disagree that 8GB memory provides adequate performance for higher resolution gaming. The fifty dollar price difference represents fifteen percent savings from the base model cost.
