AMD sets July 31 launch for Threadripper 9000 CPUs with 24 cores starting at $1499

AMD announced pricing and availability for its Threadripper 9000 desktop processors targeting enthusiast users. The company will release three models on July 31st through major technology retailers. Entry-level pricing begins at $1499 for the 24-core 9960X variant.

The flagship Threadripper 9980X features 64 cores and 128 threads with boost speeds reaching 5.4 GHz for $4999. AMD positions the 32-core 9970X at $2499 with identical clock speeds and 128 MB cache. The base 9960X offers 24 cores, 48 threads, and 128 MB cache at the lowest price point.

These processors require TRX50 motherboards and support quad-channel DDR5-6400 memory up to one terabyte. Performance testing shows the 64-core model delivers 108 percent faster speeds than Intel's 60-core Xeon W9-3595X competitor. The 32-core variant outperforms Intel's 44-core Xeon W9-3575X by 137 percent in benchmark comparisons.
