Amit Shah ditches Gmail for Zoho Mail in digital switchover

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has adopted a new email address on Zoho Mail, marking a shift away from Gmail and highlighting the adoption of homegrown digital solutions. Shah announced on social media that he has switched to Zoho Mail, sharing his new address and asking people to use it for future correspondence. Zoho, developed in India, is gaining popularity as part of efforts to promote self-reliance in technology, aligning with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Recently, Union Railways and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also adopted Zoho for official communications, encouraging others to use Indian platforms for documents and collaboration. The Education Ministry has directed officials to use Zoho’s office suite—Zoho Writer, Zoho Sheet, and Zoho Show—instead of international products, and provided training support for the transition. Zoho’s software is created by Chennai-based entrepreneur Sridhar Vembu.
