Amitabh Bachchan, proud as Agastya Nanda, leads Ikkis

Amitabh Bachchan expressed deep pride for his grandson Agastya Nanda ahead of his war film Ikkis, which arrives in theaters this December. The Bollywood legend posted an action photograph of Agastya through his social media account on Tuesday, celebrating the young actor's portrayal of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who became the youngest recipient of India's Param Vir Chakra medal. Bachchan wrote of his admiration and wished the emerging star great success as the movie prepares for its Christmas release.

Earlier, the veteran performer shared memories through his personal blog about holding Agastya as an infant and watching small fingers reach toward his beard. He described watching his grandson develop into a performer whose work will appear in cinemas across the globe. The elder Bachchan called Agastya exceptional while offering prayers and blessings for continued success that brings honor to their family.

Director Sriram Raghavan helms the biographical drama about Khetarpal, who destroyed 10 enemy tanks during the Battle of Basantar before making the ultimate sacrifice. The cast features Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, Deepak Dobriyal, and Simar Bhatia in key supporting roles.
