Anambra shuts down fake buzz on new Ndikelionwu airport as Umeri hub stands

Anambra State authorities reject social media claims about constructing a second airport facility in Ndikelionwu within Orumba North Local Government Area. Information Commissioner Dr Law Mefor dismissed these reports as false propaganda from government opponents. The state operates the Chinua Achebe International Cargo Airport at Umeri, which opened less than four years ago. Officials have no current plans to develop additional aviation infrastructure.

Recent visits to the Anambra Mixed-use Industrial City likely sparked these unfounded rumors among observers. The government studies multimodal transportation options as part of long-term urban planning initiatives. Technical investigations examine potential transport locations within the industrial park should future expansion warrant such development. The 4,000-hectare project encompasses pharmaceutical facilities and urban centers designed to promote economic growth. State leadership emphasizes that no final decisions exist regarding railway or airport construction for the industrial complex.
