Angeline Khaka arrested in Mozambique over $120k fraud

Zimbabwean authorities have arrested a former school employee accused of stealing over 120,000 dollars after she attempted to obtain a visa at the American embassy in Mozambique. Angeline Tatenda Khaka worked as a receptionist and administration assistant at Acacia Junior School, where she maintained exclusive control of vault and cash box keys while handling fee collections and financial records.

The alleged theft occurred between early 2021 and early 2022 when Khaka reportedly converted portions of parent payments for personal use. School officials became suspicious after two men arrived demanding reimbursement for vehicle import funds they had given her. After Khaka requested leave to resolve the matter and failed to return, authorities discovered missing funds during an audit. She fled across the border and appeared on an Interpol red notice before her capture at the Maputo embassy and subsequent extradition.
