A married woman and a Member of Parliament, Tanatsiwa Mukombori, spent time together at a Harare hotel on May 20. The woman drove them away from the hotel and brought them back before 9 PM. Her husband, Wilson Mutambwani, had been watching and waiting for their return. The 38-year-old man works at a car repair shop and drives a Toyota Aqua. Mutambwani saw his wife arrive with the politician.
The angry husband attacked Mukombori when they parked at the hotel. Mutambwani pulled out a pellet gun and shot at the MP's Ford Ranger windscreen. The weapon damaged the truck but did not hurt anybody during the fight. Mutambwani grabbed his wife's purse with her car keys and cell phone. Both husband and wife drove away and left the woman's white Nissan X-Trail behind.
The couple came back the next afternoon around 3 PM using a taxi. They wanted to pick up the abandoned vehicle from the hotel parking area. Police learned the woman plans to divorce her husband, but he refuses to accept their separation. Officers charged Mutambwani with assault and property damage after finding his air gun. Mukombori would not talk about what happened that night.
