Anti-galamsey officers recover, one hero lost in a crash

Four taskforce members wounded during anti-galamsey operations have left the hospital after making complete recoveries, according to National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat spokesman Paa Kwesi Schandorf. The personnel sustained injuries when their vehicle crashed while returning from Anyankyerim to Obuasi, an incident that claimed the life of Private Sarfo Agyapong.

Lands and Natural Resources Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah visited the fallen soldier's relatives in Afuaman, expressing sympathies from President John Dramani Mahama and promising governmental assistance. The minister characterized Agyapong as a patriot who sacrificed himself defending the nation's environmental resources.

Schandorf emphasized that authorities remain dedicated to protecting frontline staff combating unlawful mining activities.
