Malaysia has recovered more than 1 billion ringgit in additional funds connected to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim told parliament during question time. The finance minister said specialized teams working cases in Switzerland and London have reached the final phases of asset retrieval operations that supplement earlier repatriations from the multibillion-dollar fraud scheme.
Beyond 1MDB recoveries, authorities are expanding enforcement against telecommunications fraud, digital financial crimes, fictitious lending operations and romance scams. The government secured October settlements totaling approximately 20.71 billion ringgit from Goldman Sachs, AmBank Group and JP Morgan Switzerland in connection with the state investment fund scandal.
