Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasized the significant potential of connecting the African Continental Free Trade Area with the ASEAN market. During a meeting with African Union Commission Chairperson Mahamoud Ali Youssouf in Addis Ababa, he described this linkage as a way to create new growth opportunities and enhance regional connectivity.
Anwar stated that Malaysia is prepared to share its knowledge in areas matching Africa's development goals, specifically citing Islamic finance, the digital economy, and sustainable infrastructure. He reaffirmed Malaysia's commitment to strengthening its relationships with African nations based on mutual respect and friendship.
The Prime Minister also noted that the recent reopening of the Malaysian embassy in Addis Ababa has acted as a key catalyst for expanding cooperation with African Union member states.
