Apanga rejected Mahama’s Supreme Court-packing allegation

Court packing allegations are totally missing the point about incoming judicial vacancies. Lamtiig Apanga insists President John Dramani Mahama simply needs replacements for retiring justices to maintain bench strength at the apex court.

Parliamentary critics claim political interference, but Apanga frames this as standard succession planning. Nominees Sophia Bernasko-Essah, Amoako Asante, and Tony Forson still face mandatory vetting before any confirmation happens.

Retirement waves drive this timeline since the Chief Justice exits soon. Multiple other judges also approach mandatory departure dates, making early candidate identification necessary for operational stability rather than partisan advantage.

Constitutional procedures remain active regardless of the political noise surrounding these selections. Vetting must occur before finalization, meaning the current status reflects procedural compliance instead of completed appointments or bench expansion efforts.
