The commission head revealed vote tallies from Likoma, Kasungu Municipality, Luchenza Municipality, and Mwanza districts on Friday evening. Arthur Peter Mutharika earned 4,177 ballots in Likoma while Lazarus Chakwera gathered 1,817 votes there. Kasungu Municipality favored Chakwera with 8,818 supporters compared to Mutharika's 7,831 backers. Mutharika secured commanding victories in both Luchenza Municipality, with 7,547 votes against Chakwera's 276, and Mwanza District, where he collected 30,576 ballots versus his opponent's 2,228.
