Universal Audio just added two new Dante-ready devices to its lineup—the Apollo E Series. These tools bring their famous Unison preamps from recording studios to live performance settings. The first model, Apollo e1x, comes with one Unison preamp, and its partner, the Apollo e2m, offers connections for line-level gear plus headphone listening. You can use them with UA's Apollo x16D interface or plug them into any Dante network by themselves.
The Apollo e1x Remote-controllable Unison Preamp gives Dante network users access to realistic copies of famous preamps from companies like API, Avalon, Manley, Neve, and SSL. Musicians who need more inputs can link several e1x units together. This device runs on Power over Ethernet and comes with hardware that lets you attach it to a microphone stand or connect multiple units side by side.
Looking at the second new product, the Apollo e2m Stereo Headphone Amp and Line Interface, adds personal listening options and extra connections to Dante setups. It features a big volume knob on top plus two headphone jacks, and the back panel has four quarter-inch TRS plugs, giving you two inputs and two outputs. Besides powering headphones and in-ear monitors, these connections let you hook up studio speakers or add external gear, instruments, and playback devices to your setup. Like its companion, it uses Power over Ethernet and includes a built-in mic stand mount.
