Apple drops to 8th in Fortune Global 500, overtaken by UnitedHealth

Apple slipped one position in the Fortune Global 500 rankings for 2025. UnitedHealth Group overtook the technology company to claim seventh place globally. Apple maintained its presence among the top ten corporations worldwide despite facing increased competition. The healthcare giant achieved faster revenue growth than Apple during the measurement period. This shift reflects changing market dynamics across different industries.

The rankings measure corporate performance based on total revenue rather than market capitalization. Fortune Global 500 companies generated $41.7 trillion in combined revenue this year. This represents a 1.8 percent increase compared to the previous year's total of $41 trillion. Apple's modest growth contrasts with rapid expansion in healthcare and retail sectors. Declining iPhone sales contributed to the company's slower revenue advancement relative to competitors.

Healthcare companies demonstrate stronger growth patterns than consumer technology firms. Financial services lead the Fortune Global 500 with 121 companies represented. Energy, automotive, technology, and healthcare sectors comprise 60 percent of listed corporations while generating 66 percent of total revenues.
