Apple Might Make All Your US iPhones in India

According to a Financial Times report, Apple might make all US-bound iPhones in India instead of China by late 2026. The tech giant is facing pressure as its shares took hits from investor concerns about higher product costs due to China tariffs.

Several reports claim Apple wants to spread out production beyond China. Earlier this month, rumors suggested Apple might boost iPhone production in Brazil to offset US tariffs on Chinese goods. Apple already makes some basic iPhone models in Brazil to cut shipping costs across the Americas.

Market experts say the US accounts for about 28% of Apple's sales. The company briefly lost its position as the world's most valuable firm when tariff talks heated up. Apple stock has climbed nearly 21% since its tariff-related low, but uncertainty remains about U.S.-China trade talks.

Beijing denied talks were happening yesterday, but President Trump later stated negotiations were underway between the two largest global economies. The outcome could reshape worldwide trade patterns for years to come.

The Financial Times states that Apple aims to shift production from China to India for all US iPhones. This would mean that final assembly happens in India with parts from various countries, including China. The US placed 26% tariffs on Indian imports but suspended them during trade deal talks as Vice President Vance visited India.

Foxconn, Apple's main manufacturing partner, already operates in India. However, moving equipment from China has proved challenging. Such a production shift carries risks for Apple – it assumes US-China negotiations will fail, forfeits potential tariff exemptions, and might disrupt current iPhone production as the company faces slower sales.
