Apple's bold new iPhone Fold is a form factor from six years ago

Apple prepares to release its first foldable smartphone during the following year. Mark Gurman reports the device will feature an eight-inch internal screen that unfolds like a book. The company plans to integrate four separate camera systems across the device. Two cameras will mount on the rear panel while single cameras appear on the front exterior and internal display. The foldable model will replace Face ID with Touch ID technology for user authentication.

Apple will abandon Qualcomm modems and implement its custom C2 communication chips instead. Users can access a five-to-six-inch external display when the phone remains folded. The device maintains full functionality in its closed configuration. Retail pricing will reach eighteen hundred dollars for the premium device. Apple will offer the foldable iPhone in only black and white color options.
