Lagos Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins has urged the Tinubu government to adopt a firmer stance against armed groups terrorizing Nigerian communities. The Catholic leader expressed alarm over recent school invasions in Kebbi and Niger states that resulted in student abductions and the fatal shooting of a vice principal and security officer at his residence.
Martins noted a disturbing increase in militant activity following remarks by former American leader Donald Trump and suggested hostile forces are deliberately attempting to destabilize the nation. He called on federal authorities and security services to swiftly locate and prosecute those orchestrating the violence, along with their financial backers.
