Army chief vows to keep Plateau peaceful despite challenges

The military is doubling down on promises to fix the Plateau situation. Army chief Lt.-Gen Waidi Shaibu recommitted to restoring peace in the region and elsewhere during visits with Governor Caleb Mutfwang and traditional leader Jacob Gyang Buba in Jos. He acknowledged complex security problems but called them beatable through teamwork and shared intelligence.

Shaibu stated the army would keep using its personnel professionally to reduce threats. He emphasized that lasting stability requires a collective effort from everyone involved. The governor congratulated the officer on his appointment as service chief.

Mutfwang praised the army's sacrifices and professionalism across numerous deployments. He specifically commended troops from Operation Enduring Peace for their proactive work. The governor noted their efforts ensured peaceful seasonal celebrations across the state.
