Arsenal set to sign Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera for £13 million

Arsenal secured Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera after he joined the squad during their Singapore tour. The 21-year-old Spanish Under-21 international signed a five-year deal with an additional year option for £13 million. Mosquera proved essential for Valencia during their recent relegation battles, missing only two league matches across the past campaign. His aerial strength and speed helped maintain the club's top-flight status. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta targeted the center-back as part of extensive summer recruitment.

The Gunners completed their fifth summer acquisition following previous signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke from Chelsea, Christian Norgaard from Brentford, and Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. Advanced negotiations continue with Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres for another potential addition. Zubimendi praised Arteta's coaching methods as a primary factor in his transfer decision. The Spanish midfielder highlighted the manager's tactical obsession and attention to detail. Arsenal aims to surpass their previous second-place Premier League finish through these acquisitions.
