Arturia has released the KeyStep Mk2, an updated version of its portable keyboard controller that adds creative sequencing features and enhanced connectivity for musicians working with modular synthesizers and desktop production systems. The 32-key unit includes velocity sensitivity and aftertouch response, while a new OLED screen enables direct parameter adjustment without computer software.
The second-generation model introduces a Mutate function that generates melodic and rhythmic variations from existing patterns. Its arpeggiator section expands to 16 operational modes with nine pattern types, octave range controls and adjustable note divisions. Recording options support both quantized and free-time input alongside step programming and pattern linking. Scale locking keeps performances within selected keys, and chord voicing capabilities match those found in the company's KeyLab 3 series.
