ASML trains America’s chipmakers in Arizona

The Dutch technology firm ASML has launched its inaugural American training center in Phoenix, Arizona. According to CEO Christophe Fouquet, this facility arrives as semiconductor manufacturing grows significantly across Arizona and other states. The new academy aims to educate as many as one thousand engineers annually.

The campus contains fourteen classrooms and a cleanroom for hands-on experience with ASML's advanced DUV and EUV machinery. This local center eliminates the previous requirement for United States-based engineers to travel abroad for instruction. An ASML vice president, Clayton Patch, noted that servicing this sophisticated equipment demands a skill level comparable to maintaining advanced fighter aircraft.

While the Arizona location will not contain the newest High-NA EUV systems, which remain in Europe, its establishment supports the expanding domestic chip industry. This initiative addresses a critical shortage of specialized technicians, strengthening the local semiconductor supply chain.
