ASUSTOR’s new NAS promises lightning-fast 4K workflows

ASUSTOR has rolled out its Lockerstor Gen2+ desktop NAS range, pairing twin 5-gigabit Ethernet connections with SMB Multichannel to push aggregate throughput toward 10 Gbps for bandwidth-hungry creative shops and compact production teams. The refreshed lineup—spanning two-bay, four-bay and six-bay chassis—leans on Intel Celeron N5105 silicon, accommodates as much as 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, and carves out four M.2 slots for NVMe caching or primary solid-state arrays.

Sequential transfers in RAID 5 configurations climbed near 1146 MB/s on reads and roughly 536 MB/s on writes during company benchmarks, while individual bays accept drives reaching 30 TB apiece. The flagship six-bay variant scales to 212 TB across spinning and flash media combined. Dual USB 10 Gbps ports, hardware encryption, and HDMI output round out a feature set aimed at live 4K editing pipelines and team file shares, with pricing landing around 435 dollars or euros per unit.
