Attacks hit Hindu temples in 13 districts before Puja

Hindu community leaders reported attacks on religious sites across 13 districts before Saturday's Durga Puja festival begins. Vandals damaged idols and temples in multiple areas according to Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee President Jayanta Kumar Deb. He called for year-round security measures rather than protection limited to the five-day celebration period.

Bangladesh will host Durga Puja at 33,355 locations this year compared to 31,461 sites last year. Community leaders issued 22 guidelines for festival organization involving local officials and security forces. The Rapid Action Battalion deployed 281 patrol teams nationwide with 94 operating within Dhaka to maintain safety during celebrations.

Officials assured community members that comprehensive security arrangements protect worshippers. Leaders acknowledged government cooperation while requesting permanent solutions to prevent future incidents. The festival concludes with idol immersion ceremonies scheduled for October 2.
